Hi I am Robert, or you can call me Coach Rob. I am married to Coach Kris and we have 4 crazy, beautiful kids. I grew up in a small town in North Texas. I have always played sports but would never have thought of myself as much of an athlete. I always felt like I was good but sports didn't take me anywhere so I joined the military right out of High School. I spent 4 years in the Navy and 2 years in the Air Force. After the military I joined a local Sheriff's Office where I spent about 4 years which lead me to where I am today. I now work full time for the Department of Justice and own this awesome CrossFit Box.
I have let my self go a few times in my life. After the military I would sit around, smoke cigarettes, do nothing and eat heart attacks in a box. Needless to say I blew up to a very unhealthy 250 pounds and ended up in the Emergency Room with unbearable pain in my chest. This was a huge eye opener and I had to do something. I found an MMA gym a few miles away and got my weight down and physical fitness up enough to get me through the Police Academy. I stuck with MMA for about 4 years and again fell off and let my self go. I did this back and forth a few times. Well about 3 years ago I was asked to join a tactical team and it is one of the highest honors to be asked. The only problem was that I was currently in one of those letting myself go times of my life. I was 250 pounds again and definitely out of shape but had to do something because I wanted to make the team so bad. I started doing my own thing in a local globo gym and it just wasn't working. I had about 3 months to become a beast. I ended up finding a small local CrossFit gym, actually a barn, and asked if I could come tryout a class and told them my story. This ended up being the best decision of my life. I fell in love the first day, even though I thought I was going to die. I was committed from then on. I lost 30 pounds by the time tryouts came around and I could do more fitness "stuff" by then. I passed the grueling tryouts and was then part of an amazing family of bada**es. I continued my CrossFit training and fell more and more in love with it. I could tell I was getting so much better and knowledgeable about the movements so my next task was to become a CrossFit Trainer. This was a very easy choice for me to make because of my love and passion for CrossFit and I believe so much in the methodology of CrossFit.
My purpose for coaching is to help make my community as healthy as they can be. Serving others through fitness makes my heart whole. It is my ultimate goal to help people improve in the gym so they can improve in life.
