I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I’ve played some kind of sport since the age of 12. As a kid, I tried out soccer, gymnastics and softball. In high school, Volleyball was my main (and favorite) sport but I dabbled in basketball and track. While completing my business degree at UTA, I stumbled upon MMA and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It started out as a side hobby to get in shape but turned into 7 years of training and competition. I currently have an undefeated MMA record at the amateur level! During this time I had a few injuries that stopped me from competing but it allowed me the opportunity to start coaching beginners MMA and boot camp classes. From this I learned that coaching others isn’t the end but just the beginning. It helps you become a better athlete and pushes you to truly understand your sport, all while helping someone else reach their potential. After deciding I wanted to try something new, I gave CrossFit a try and I’ve been hooked every since!
Fear of the unknown, can stop you from experiencing so many opportunities. I played a ton of sports growing up and I did take them serious but when it was time to take it up a level (ex. College level), there was always an excuse. The school is too far from home, it’s too expensive for my family…the excuses would go on and on. And yes, these may have been valid but they weren’t stopping me. However, I tricked myself into thinking they were so I wouldn’t feel bad about essentially giving up. It wasn’t until I found MMA in college that I realized I was coming up with excuses because I was afraid to try something new (the unknown) and afraid of what would happen if I wasn’t good at it. I realized that this fear stopped me from trying so many things that I probably would have loved. From then on, I decided I would try new things for the fun of it. It doesn’t matter if I’ll be good or if end up not liking it, as long as I had fun and experienced life!
As a person, I love to help people. To be a part of someone else’s journey to accomplish their goals, brings me the utmost joy! Coaching has allowed me to focus that joy of helping towards fitness and health.
